Mean-field theory of the Potts glass.

چکیده
We consider a gas of classical particles in R having q distinct colours, interacting via a mean-field Potts potential and subject to an external field; a colour-independent molecular interaction of a mean-field type is also admitted. In contrast to the usual lattice Potts model, the Potts gas exhibits the specific volume v as a parameter, in addition to colour-ordering. The v-dependence of the Potts gas is studied in detail, and the complete phase diagram is derived. It turns out that, for q 3, the transition to colour-ordering implies a jump of density. For q = 2, this transition is continuous but may become discontinuous under the influence of a suitable molecular interaction. PACS numbers: 05.20.Jj, 05.70.Fh

Spin Glasses on Thin Graphs
In a recent paper [1] we found strong evidence from simulations that the Ising antiferromagnet on “thin” random graphs Feynman diagrams displayed a mean-field spin glass transition. The intrinsic interest of considering such random graphs is that they give mean field theory results without long range interactions or the drawbacks, arising from boundary problems, of the Bethe lattice. In this pa...

We investigate numerically and analytically Potts models on " thin " random graphs – generic Feynman diagrams, using the idea that such models may be expressed as the N → 1 limit of a matrix model. The thin random graphs in this limit are locally tree-like, in distinction to the " fat " random graphs that appear in the planar Feynman diagram limit, N → ∞, more familiar from discretized models o...
متن کاملOn the Static and Dynamical Transition in the Mean-Field Potts glass
We study the static as well as the glassy or dynamical transition in the meanfield p-state Potts glass. By numerical solution of the saddle point equations we investigate the static and the dynamical transition for all values of p in the nonperturbative regime p > 4. The static and dynamical Edwards-Anderson parameter increase with p logarithmically. This makes the glassy transition temperature...
متن کاملThe Cavity Approach for Metastable Glassy States Near Random First Order Phase Transitions
Ii is shown that trie cavity method developed to describe equilibrium states in trie mean-field Ising spin glass model con be generalized to describe metastable stores in trie mean-field Potts glass. Trie crucial input is trie existence of an extensive number of statistically similar but incongruent metastable states with a weighted Gaussian free energy distribution. It is argued that the inher...
متن کاملGraph optimisation problems and the Potts glass
The NP-complete problems of partitioning and colouring of random graphs, with p partitions and colours respectively, are mapped onto the statistical mechanical problem of p-state Potts glasses. An estimate of the cost functions of these optimisation problems has been derived using the Potts glass mean-field theory. This estimate applies to dense graphs in the thermodynamic limit. An exact expre...
